Air India has announced the launch of a seasonal Mumbai-Toronto service beginning in Winter 2026-27, according to the Economic Times. The new route will operate three times weekly until March 26, 2027, using upgraded Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, making Air India the only carrier offering direct flights on this route.

The service will add nearly 2,000 seats per week between India and Canada. Each aircraft will feature 8 First Class suites with sliding privacy doors, 40 flat-bed Business Class seats, and 280 Economy Class seats, with onboard Wi-Fi connectivity available to passengers.
According to Nipun Aggarwal, Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer, the new route comes as “Canada is one of Air India’s most important international markets, with deep people-to-people connections driving strong travel demand, particularly during the festive and holiday season.” He stated that the Mumbai-Toronto service “will provide travellers more choice and convenience at a time when many are travelling to reunite with family and friends.”
This expansion is part of Air India’s broader capacity increase between India and Canada. The airline will increase overall capacity by 4,400 seats monthly through multiple initiatives. The company is also introducing its brand-new Boeing 787-9 aircraft on Delhi-Toronto flights and expects premium seat capacity to Toronto to increase by 71 percent this winter.
During Winter 2026-27, Air India will operate 20 weekly flights from India to Canada: 10 from Delhi to Toronto, 3 from Mumbai to Toronto, and 7 from Delhi to Vancouver. Passengers traveling through Air India’s Mumbai and Delhi hubs will be able to connect to multiple Indian cities including Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ludhiana, and Vadodara.
