Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig have announced their engagement, one month after Shue’s ex-wife Amy Robach married T.J. Holmes in a private ceremony in Arkansas on September 19.
Shue, 59, and Fiebig, 49, were previously married to Holmes and Robach respectively. The four became the subject of tabloid headlines in November 2022 when Robach and Holmes, who were cohosts on ABC’s GMA3, were photographed together outside the office. Both Shue and Fiebig were still married at the time.
In January 2023, ABC confirmed that Robach and Holmes were departing from GMA3 following the incident. The couple later addressed the timeline of their relationship on their podcast “Amy and T.J.” in December 2023. Holmes stated: “We were outed as being in a relationship, but everyone else thought we were being outed as adulterers — being outed as cheating on our spouses — and it wasn’t the case because the odd thing is, the day those pictures were taken and the day that article was released, we both at that point were in divorce proceedings.”
Robach similarly claimed her marriage to Shue had ended before she began dating Holmes, saying the couple was “in the middle of divorces” when the photos emerged.
In recent comments to People, Shue reflected on his personal growth through the separation. “The most important project is your family and building a foundation for your kids and creating a home and showing them a loving relationship they can see and experience,” he said. He acknowledged his own role in the marriage not working out, describing how he has grown “through a lot of pain and a lot of struggle and a lot of humility.”
Regarding his engagement to Fiebig, Shue told People: “We’re very grateful and hopeful. I don’t know how it happened, but there’s a happy ending.” He characterized meeting Fiebig as a circumstance that “just happened to be our way of getting to know each other and being able to share ourselves with each other in a time where we both needed a friend.”
