The Chaos Computer Club has launched its Call for Participation for 40C3, the biennial hacker conference scheduled for December 27-30, 2026, in Hamburg. The relocation to Hamburg Exhibition halls has expanded the physical space available for creative contributions. The Call for Participation includes multiple tracks: talks and lectures through the lecture programme call, DJs and musicians for lounge and party stages, and artists and designers who can apply via a separate Call for Art for exhibits, sculptures, and performances. Additionally, organizers are seeking performers for the “Punk-Späti,” described as an anarchic and anti-fascist performance space.
The Congress is organized by volunteers and supported by thousands of unpaid helpers, drawing over 16,000 visitors annually. According to the announcement, the event is the largest non-commercial hacker conference, with attendees actively participating in shaping the program rather than functioning as passive consumers.
Organizers framed the event’s philosophy in response to what they characterized as a shift away from democratic consensus toward authoritarian models.
