Yorkshire-born actor James Norton is set to host Saturday Night Live UK, taking on hosting duties for the iconic comedy show’s British version. According to the source, Norton is best known for high-profile dramatic roles, including Tommy Lee Royce in Happy Valley, alongside appearances in House of Guinness and the Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon.
Norton will be joined by musical guest The Streets for the episode, which airs at 10pm on Sky One and is available to stream on NOW. The show promises an energetic episode featuring sketches, comedy, and live music.
A teaser clip titled ‘James Norton Has Powerful Eyes’ was released earlier in the week to build anticipation. The clip features Norton performing alongside Annabel Marlow and Freddie Meredith, offering viewers a preview of his approach to live sketch comedy.
According to the source, although Norton is recognized for his dramatic performances, hosting Saturday Night Live UK gives him the opportunity to demonstrate a different side of his talents. The programme’s format, which combines topical humor, character sketches, and live performances, requires quick thinking and impeccable timing—skills that differ from his usual screen work.
Norton joins other celebrity hosts in the latest series of Saturday Night Live UK on Sky and NOW. The source notes that Danny Dyer hosted the previous weekend’s episode, demonstrating the appeal of the programme’s rotating celebrity host format. Each episode features a new host and musical guest, giving well-known actors and entertainers the chance to step outside their usual roles and embrace live comedy.
With Norton’s extensive acting experience and The Streets providing musical entertainment, the episode is expected to deliver another installment of the show’s mix of live performance and sketch-based comedy.
