Two of Leeds United’s defensive cornerstones are set to compete on opposite sides of an international fixture. Left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson will represent Sweden against Bosnia & Herzegovina, where his club teammate Tarik Muharemović has become a key player for the national side.

The Nations League match is scheduled for October 2 at Bilino Polje Stadium in Zenica. While Gudmundsson and Muharemović typically work together as part of Leeds’ backline under manager Daniel Farke, they will be on opposing sides during the encounter.
According to Leeds United’s official website, Gudmundsson expressed respect for Bosnia & Herzegovina’s quality ahead of the fixture. “Bosnia is a very stable and decent team, they’ve shown that from the last games, and in the World Cup. They are difficult to beat, strong, strong players,” he said. “It’s going to be a fight.”
The Swedish defender acknowledged that both teams have started their respective campaigns strongly. “I think Bosnia also had a good start, so it’s going to be a tough game,” Gudmundsson noted. He added that Sweden is “traveling down to Bosnia with confidence but also the knowledge that it’s going to be a fight.”
Despite the competitive nature of the match, the teammates have planned to maintain their friendship off the pitch. Gudmundsson and Muharemović have agreed to swap shirts after the game. “Of course it’ll be nice to see Tarik, and hopefully a win over him will be even nicer to have, to chat about that. But it’s fun,” the 27-year-old said. “We talked about swapping shirts, it’ll be something fun.”
