Revolut experienced a significant outage on Tuesday morning affecting multiple services, according to the company. Users reported being unable to make some payments or access funds via the app, with platform outage monitor Downdetector logging more than 1,500 reports of issues with Revolut services shortly after 08:00 BST.

A Revolut spokesperson told the BBC: “We are currently experiencing a service disruption affecting multiple services,” while adding that “all our customers’ money and data are safe.” The company stated it had been working to fix the issue since it was identified and apologized for any inconvenience caused.

According to Revolut’s website status page, a range of services were marked as “partially unavailable,” including card payments, transfers, ATM withdrawals, and customer support services. On social media, users criticized the company, saying the outage left them unable to access funds, make payments, or contact customer support.

Revolut did not clarify whether the issues were affecting users globally or specify what caused the service disruption. The company, one of several so-called “neobanks” competing with traditional banks through a digital-first approach, has more than 80 million customers worldwide according to its website.

Other UK financial institutions also reported problems on Tuesday. Lloyds Bank and Bank of Scotland, both owned by Lloyds Banking Group, were reportedly experiencing some issues. A Lloyds spokesperson told the BBC its app was functioning normally but acknowledged that “some are having issues with certain online services this morning” and noted being aware of “similar issues affecting other organisations.”

Some observers linked the widespread issues affecting multiple UK services to an incident reported by Google Cloud on Tuesday. According to Google Cloud’s service health dashboard, the company experienced “elevated errors and intermittent network failures” across some services at its UK cloud facility, europe-west2.
