Waymo announced on August 4, 2026, that its fully autonomous ride service is now open to all residents of Dallas, ending the waitlist period that had limited access since the service launched in February.
According to Waymo, the service has already welcomed nearly 150,000 riders in Dallas who were part of an interest list. The company stated that the autonomous vehicles have helped residents “run errands, commute to work, and celebrate nights out with friends.”
The expansion marks a significant milestone for the robotaxi operator in its Dallas operations. Waymo indicated that it continues to conduct fully autonomous testing at Dallas Love Field Airport terminals, with plans to serve travelers there in the future. To reach the airport efficiently, the company says it will “soon begin fully autonomous testing on Dallas freeways, which is the final step before offering these routes to public riders.”
The company framed the service as expanding transportation options for the broader Dallas community. Chris Justl, CEO of Epilepsy Foundation Texas, offered a statement of support, noting that “Waymo autonomous vehicles are not just the future—they’re a transformational step forward for the epilepsy community and anyone living with medical conditions that limit their ability to drive, creating a new pathway to safe, independent travel.”
Waymo emphasized the accessibility aspect of the service, describing it as a way to unlock “a new way for tourists and other visitors to get around the city.” Residents and visitors can now access the service by downloading the Waymo app and requesting a ride.
